Growing up
We had a good weekend. Today I'm reflecting on my children. Kenneth is 7 now, and thinks he knows everything. Daniel is changing so much these days. He's getting more emotional, and more sensative. He's obviously understanding more of what's going on around him. He's responding to discipline like he never has before, and he's starting to understand consequences. I can see in his eyes he's growing up. He is good to play with his little sister, though, and boy do her eyes light up when she sees him. Caitlin is walking everywhere now. She doesn't crawl anymore unless she is trying to fit under something (like the table or her highchair). She's getting interested in books. This morning I spent almost an hour looking at books with her. I don't remember my boys being interested in books at 1 year old... All of the kids adore their dad. As soon as he comes in the room, I'm quickly forgotten. They fight over sitting next to him at dinner. I'm glad they love him so much. I guess as time goes on I'm growing weary of the long work hours. It's been a long time that Steve's been working so much, and now I look forward to the day when he can leave the office at 6 and not feel guilty. Kenneth is supposed to start soccer this week but we haven't heard from the coach. Well, I'd better get to work - that's the real reason I'm sitting here in a quiet house with time to reflect.

August 2006
Well, the kids and I are in Utah with family and friends. We've had a wonderful time. Kenneth has been swimming and playing X-box to his heart's content. We spent Tuesday with the Joneses (our friends from Texas) and we all had a wonderful time. We missed Steve, though. We made cookies and zuccini bread and ate some wonderful tomatoes from their garden. It made me miss my garden in Texas so much. The adults put together a "Texas" puzzle that evening and it was so fun to remember all the fun places we'd been....and wonder why we'd never been some other places. Other than the crick in my neck, it was the best time I've had in a long time. Daniel got to stay and play with Spencer and Sophie for an extra day and he enjoyed every minute of it. We are all missing Daddy and will return home tomorrow morning. School starts next week and all the kids are very excited.

Our first entry
Well, everyone's doin' it. We thought maybe we should too. Mainly it will serve as a journal for us, but if our friends want to "check in" that'd be fun, too. Wish us luck!
